In the Leyden Labs Research team a new opportunity has opened up for a

SENIOR RESEARCH TECHNICIAN PROTEIN ANALYTICS

to work from our office in Leiden, the Netherlands. Leyden Labs is a fast-growing biotech company currently expanding the Research team focused on pipeline filling projects for discovery of new molecules.

In your role as Senior Research Technician, you will work on the development and implementation of assays for protein characterization within the Antibody Characterization team. Your responsibilities will include day-to-day planning, execution and reporting of experiments to support the team. More about the team:

You will be working within the Antibody Characterization team within the Research department under supervision of a Senior Scientist, in a team consisting of technicians and scientists, contributing to the discovery and characterization of novel therapeutic molecules. The activities will be conducted at our Leyden Labs newly built, state of the art facilities within a vibrant biotechnology campus in Leiden, Netherlands.

This will be on your plate for the next 3 to 6 months:

  • To plan, perform and troubleshoot activities to characterize potential candidate molecules, and to support experiments to screen and validate both new molecules and antigens.

  • Prepare samples, standards, required reagents and solutions for analysis

  • Maintenance of laboratory instruments and equipment

  • Provide expert technical support within the area of expertise.

  • Analyze data and prepare reports.

  • Sample management: aliquoting, labeling, handling and organizing samples for research purposes.

  • Write SOP’s, work instructions and Report data in (electronic) laboratory notebooks assay forms and overview sheets.

  • Working closely with the research team to develop and/or improve laboratory workflows.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor’s  or Master’s degree in biology, biochemistry, or related field.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with protein characterization methods.

  • Proven knowledge of the current analytical methods and qualification.

  • Solid “hands on” experience with ultra-performance liquid chromatography or with capillary electrophoresis is required. Proven experience with other biophysical and biochemical characterizations techniques (SDS-PAGE, CE-SDS, CIEF, DLS/NanoDSF) is highly desired.

  • Experience with binding assays (ELISA, MSD, SPR), cell culture, transductions/transfections or flow cytometry is considered a plus.

  • Experience with documenting activities in an electronic lab notebook (ELN).

  • Sound knowledge of principles and practices applicable to the role, including safety and handling of hazardous chemicals in a laboratory environment.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. English (verbal and written) is required.

  • Experience in working according to high quality standards.
